Davenport, Iowa - 9/15/2017 08:00 am to 9/17/2017 01:00 pm
Take a trip across Iowa on America’s longest highway. No Interstates, no chain restaurants, just two lane highway and Mom & Pops.
The dates have been set for the 2017 River to River Retro Road Trip. Our 7th annual cruise across Iowa will be held September 15-17, 2017.
People often ask what vehicles are eligible for the trip. While we prefer classic cars, hot rods and muscle cars, we never turn anyone away. Run what you brung! Motorcycles are welcome too!
Once again we will be cruising the one ways in Downtown Davenport on Thursday Night September 14th, followed by the the ever popular open house at Dahl Ford’s Old Cars Home.
We will be leaving Davenport just a little bit earlier on Friday morning, at 9 AM, so be sure and get to the Florian Keen Parking lot early so you can register and/or pick up your goodies. After a welcome from mayor Frank Klipsch and a short drivers meeting we’ll be off with a police escort out to US 6!
Stops include a Pit Stop in West Liberty, Lunch at the Millstream Brat House in the Amana Colonies, a stop at the must see Kellogg Historical Society Museum, then a big car show and dinner at the Sugar Shack in Altoona, our overnight stop for Friday.
Saturday is another big day, with a field trip to Dennis Albaugh’s reknowned Chevy collection, Dennis rarely opens his doors so this is a special treat. From there we head back down to US 6 to explore the White Pole Road and lunch at the Menlo Cafe. Another pit stop in Oakland and a chance to see their new Freedom Rock before we join the huge Bluffs Downtown Car Show in Council Bluffs. (Our Saturday overnight stop.) Sunday we’ll meet up and continue our tradition of visiting the Original Freedom Rock near Menlo, redone every year by artist Ray Sorenson.
